Hinata Nakamura is a 21-year-old Japanese multidisciplinary artist who expresses her creativity through composition, dance, violin performance, and films. Currently based in New York City, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and Composition at New York University as a scholarship recipient. Concentrating in concert music, Hinata studies with Justin Dello Joio and is also pursuing a minor in Film. Impressionism, Japanese music, and 20th-century music inspire her compositions. Hinata has been awarded awards such as the Special Prize (Special Mention) at the 5th ISAC International Popular Music Composition Competition, jury prize at the 40th TIAA National Composers Competition, and 3rd place at the World of Dance Championship (2019). She enjoys exploring a wide range of genres, letting musicality and cross-disciplinary influences and collaborations with instrumentalists, dancers, animators, and filmmakers shape her expressive style.
